WHAT POLICYHOLDERS SAY ABOUT US...

What is a Loss Adjuster?

If you are new to the industry, you might be wondering what a Loss Adjuster does. We are independent insurance professionals who act on behalf of an insurance company when there is a major or complex claim. We investigate, manage, quantify and settle the claim on behalf of the insurance company, within the terms of the policy. Our fees are covered by the insurance company, so our involvement comes at no cost to the policyholder.

If you would like to find out more about our role and the process we follow, our FAQs might be helpful.

Our approach

“Because…it happens” is our tagline for a reason. With several decades of experience between us, there really is not much that we have not dealt with. We have seen commercial properties ruined by fire, homes damaged by floods, and we have even dealt with the aftermath of a tornado ripping through the Channel Islands.

Every case we deal with is personal and the scale of every case is relative to the individual experiencing it. Our job is to help put things right and make the process as smooth as possible for both the insurer and the policyholder. To help us do so, we have developed industry-leading tools to help us deliver the best possible experience.

About us

Our founder-led team are passionate about investing in our industry and achieving the highest levels of professional development. We boast four Loss Adjusters in our ranks, three of whom are Chartered. This makes our Guernsey-based team by far the most qualified in our field across the Channel Islands. 2024 marks a milestone year for our company, as we celebrate 20 years in business.

Whether you’re interacting with us via the insurance industry or as a policyholder, you can be assured we will deliver accuracy, expertise and knowledge, together with dedicated customer service, supported by our bespoke technology.

Channel Islands Adjusters was founded in 2004 by husband-and-wife team Richard and Julie-anne Headington, the first married couple in the world to both become Chartered Loss Adjusters in the same year. In 2014, they were joined by Operations Manager Tracy Le Page and Josh Smith, who is now an Associate Director and shareholder in the company. Loss Adjuster Ellie Smith (no relation to Josh) completes the team.
